Redefine Surgery Inc (“company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our users and ensuring the security of any personal information collected through our website, services, events and products. It is Redefine Surgery Inc.’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and share personal data, as well as the choices available to you regarding your information. By using our website and services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to all personal information collected by the company through our website, digital platforms, and any direct communications with our company. It governs how we handle data provided by users, including surgeons, medical professionals, and business partners who engage with our services. This policy does not cover third-party websites or services that may be linked to our platform, and we encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.

This Privacy Policy, together with the Terms and Conditions posted on our website, set forth the general rules and policies governing your use of our website. Depending on your activities when visiting our website, you may be required to agree to additional terms and conditions.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in several ways, including when you interact with our website, sign up for services, communicate with us, or use our platform. You may provide personal information voluntarily, including your name, email address, phone number, company affiliation, account credentials, and payment details when applicable.

Like most website operators, Redefine Surgery Inc. collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how our visitors use the website. From time to time, we may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of our website.

We also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for users submitting contact forms. We only disclose user IP addresses under the same circumstances that we use and disclose personally-identifying information as described below. If our platform collects health-related or other sensitive data, we handle it in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations

2A. Health and Fitness Data (The Orthopedic Journey Mobile Application Only)

The following provisions apply solely to The Orthopedic Journey mobile application (“the App”) and do not apply to Redefine Surgery Inc.’s general website, services, or other business operations unless explicitly stated.

The App may request permission to access certain health and fitness data stored on your device. This section describes the categories of data accessed, how such data is used, and how it is protected.

Data Accessed
When you grant permission, the App may read the following categories of health data from Apple Health (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android):

  • Step count (daily activity steps)

  • Body weight (recorded weight measurements)

  • Sleep (sleep session duration and timing)

  • Resting heart rate (resting heart rate readings)

The App does not write any data to Apple Health or Google Health Connect.

Use of Health Data
Health data accessed by the App is used solely for purposes directly related to your care, including:

  • Displaying progress metrics within the App

  • Sharing approved metrics with your treating provider as part of your orthopedic care program

  • Supporting your clinical care team in monitoring recovery and outcomes

This data is not used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to your direct care.

Data Sharing and Storage
Health data is transmitted securely using encrypted protocols (e.g., HTTPS/TLS) to our HIPAA-compliant clinical platform. Access is restricted to authorized members of your care team. This data is not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes.

Your Control
You may revoke the App’s access to health data at any time through your device settings:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → The Orthopedic Journey

  • Android: Settings → Apps → The Orthopedic Journey → Permissions

Revoking access will stop future data synchronization but will not delete data already shared with your care team, which may be retained in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Other Data Collected by the App
In addition to health data, the App may collect and use:

  • Account information (e.g., name, email address, login credentials) to authenticate users and associate data with care records

  • Messages between you and your care team, stored securely on the clinical platform

  • Appointment and program data, including scheduling, progress tracking, and care goals

All data collected through the App is handled in accordance with HIPAA and this Privacy Policy.
